Description

This anti-skate blade is manufactured from 316L stainless steel and has a matte finish. It is designed to be inserted into mortar joints between coping stones or brickwork as the wall is constructed. The blade provides an effective skate deterrent by interrupting the continuous edges skaters need to grind or slide, helping to protect walls, coping and other masonry surfaces from damage. For more information on when a blade may be more suitable than an individual stud, see Anti-Skate Studs vs Anti-Skate Blades: Which Should I Use?.

Material Information

This anti-skate blade is manufactured from high-quality 316L stainless steel for long-term external use. The material provides excellent corrosion resistance and is particularly well suited to demanding outdoor environments where the blade may be exposed to rain, snow, moisture and other weather conditions.

Design

The blade is designed to protrude slightly from the top and side of brickwork or coping while the majority of the product remains built into the wall. This creates a clear physical interruption to the edge while keeping the installation relatively discreet within the surrounding masonry. The exposed edges are rounded to reduce sharp edges and minimise the risk of snagging or accidental contact. Because the blade is incorporated directly into the mortar joint during construction, a substantial proportion of the product remains secured within the wall. This creates a strong, discreet installation with good resistance to tampering and vandalism.

Application

The Anti-Skate Blade can be incorporated into:
  • Brickwork
  • Coping
The construction of the wall and position of the mortar joints should be considered when planning the installation. For more information on how different substrates affect anti-skate protection, see What surfaces can anti-skate studs be installed on?.

Installation

The Anti-Skate Blade is installed during construction by:
  1. Positioning the blade within the required mortar joint as the wall or coping is built.
  2. Ensuring the blade is correctly aligned so that the required section protrudes from the top and side of the finished surface.
  3. Bedding the blade securely into the mortar as construction continues.
Because this blade is incorporated during construction, it is generally best suited to new walls or masonry being rebuilt. Where anti-skate protection needs to be added to an existing wall, a retrofit anti-skate blade may be more appropriate.
