Anti-skate blades provide a more continuous deterrent along a wall, ledge or coping stone. Their positioning can be influenced by the substrate and available fixing points, including mortar joints where appropriate. They create a significantly more obvious deterrent than individual studs, providing both a physical obstruction to grinding and a clear visual indication that the edge has been protected. They are particularly useful where deterrence and coverage take priority over subtlety.

When should I use anti-skate studs?
There are many scenarios where anti-skate studs are a particularly suitable solution, including architectural walls, coping stones, finished stonework and irregular surfaces.
Architectural walls and coping stones
Anti-skate studs can blend into architectural walls and coping stones just as easily as they can become a feature of them. This makes them well suited to locations where the appearance of the installation needs to be maintained while still providing protection against grinding.
Stonework and finished surfaces
Anti-skate studs manufactured from materials such as brass or bronze, or supplied with finishes such as anodised aluminium, can be selected to complement surrounding stonework and architectural finishes. This allows the deterrent to feel like part of the overall design rather than an addition to it.
Areas where appearance matters
Where maintaining the appearance of a location is an important consideration, anti-skate studs offer a high level of choice in terms of shape, material, finish and positioning. Do anti-skate blades provide better protection than studs?

Which is easier to install: anti-skate studs or blades?
There is no clear winner in terms of ease of installation between anti-skate studs and anti-skate blades. Both can require a reasonable amount of planning, setting out and equipment depending on the scale and nature of the installation.
