Description
The 20mm Radius Torpedo Anti-Skate Stud is manufactured from 316L stainless steel and has a machine-polished finish. It is designed to sit flush on walls, planters or street furniture with a 20mm radius, allowing the stud to follow the profile of the surface while remaining visually integrated with the surrounding architecture.
The Torpedo provides an effective skate deterrent by interrupting the continuous edges and flat surfaces skaters or BMX riders may otherwise use for grinding, helping to protect walls, furniture and other architectural surfaces from damage.
For help comparing the Torpedo with other designs in the range, see How do I choose the right anti-skate stud?.
Material Information
The 20mm Radius Torpedo Anti-Skate Stud is manufactured from high-quality 316L stainless steel for long-term external use. The material provides excellent corrosion resistance and is particularly well suited to demanding outdoor environments where the stud may be exposed to rain, snow, moisture and other weather conditions.
The stud incorporates two M8 threaded fixings, each measuring 25mm in length, providing secure anchorage into a suitable substrate and helping the installation resist impacts and attempted removal.
Design
The stud has an elongated torpedo-shaped profile with a rounded, blunt head and tapered tail.
Its 20mm internal radius allows the body of the stud to follow a correspondingly radiused wall or coping edge, while the extended profile provides protection across a substantial section of the vulnerable surface.
The length of the stud helps interrupt both the exposed edge and the adjacent top surface, reducing the continuous area available for grinding or sliding.
Two equal-length M8 fixing studs provide additional stability and secure the deterrent firmly into the substrate.
Because the Torpedo is manufactured with a specific 20mm radius, the coping or edge profile should be checked before ordering. See
What measurements do I need for anti-skate studs? for guidance on measuring wall widths, edge radiuses and available fixing depth.
Application
The 20mm Radius Torpedo Anti-Skate Stud can be installed on a range of
surfaces suitable for anti-skate studs, including:
- Walls
- Benches
- Planters
- Street furniture
The installation surface should have a suitable 20mm radius and sufficient substrate depth to accommodate the fixings.
Installation
The 20mm Radius Torpedo Anti-Skate Stud is typically installed by:
- Drilling two fixing holes into the designated surface.
- Clearing the holes of dust and debris.
- Applying epoxy resin into the fixing holes.
- Inserting the stud and allowing the resin to cure.
For detailed preparation and fixing guidance, see
How to use epoxy resin to install architectural studs.
Always follow the curing instructions supplied with the chosen resin before the installation is subjected to use or loading.
Installation equipment required: Drill, appropriate drill bit, push pump, epoxy resin and applicator gun.
