Description
The Sleeper Anti-Skate Stud is manufactured from 316L stainless steel and has a machine-polished finish. It is designed to sit flush on walls, planters or street furniture and has no internal radius as standard, making it suitable for a wide range of flat surfaces and edge profiles.
The stud provides an effective skate deterrent by interrupting the continuous edges and flat surfaces skaters may look to grind or slide along, helping to protect walls, furniture and other architectural surfaces from damage.
For help comparing the Sleeper with other designs in the range, see How do I choose the right anti-skate stud?.
Material Information
The Sleeper Anti-Skate Stud is manufactured from high-quality 316L stainless steel for long-term external use. The material provides excellent corrosion resistance and is particularly well suited to demanding outdoor environments where the stud may be exposed to rain, snow, moisture and other weather conditions.
Design
The stud has an elongated pill-shaped design and can be positioned either behind an exposed edge or so that part of the body projects over it, depending on the surface and level of protection required.
The body of the stud lies flat against the installation surface, while its extended length provides greater coverage along the vulnerable edge of a wall, bench, planter or other item of street furniture.
Because the Sleeper has no internal radius as standard, it can be used on a variety of flat surfaces without needing to correspond to a specific coping radius.
Two M8 fixing studs provide additional stability and help secure the deterrent firmly into the substrate.
The position of the edge, available surface width and fixing depth should be checked before installation. See
What measurements do I need for anti-skate studs? for guidance on measuring walls, ledges and other installation surfaces.
Application
The Sleeper Anti-Skate Stud can be installed on a range of
surfaces suitable for anti-skate studs, including:
- Walls
- Benches
- Steps
- Planters
- Street furniture
The suitability of the installation will depend on the material, condition and available fixing depth of the substrate.
Installation
The Sleeper Anti-Skate Stud is typically installed by:
- Drilling two fixing holes into the designated surface.
- Clearing the holes of dust and debris.
- Applying epoxy resin into the fixing holes.
- Inserting the stud and allowing the resin to cure.
For detailed preparation and fixing guidance, see
How to use epoxy resin to install architectural studs.
Always follow the curing instructions supplied with the chosen resin before the installation is subjected to use or loading.
Installation equipment required: Drill, appropriate drill bit, push pump, epoxy resin and applicator gun.
