Description
The Hemisphere Anti-Skate Stud is manufactured from 316L stainless steel and has a machine-polished finish. It is designed to sit on top of a wall, ledge, planter or item of street furniture close to the vulnerable edge.
By interrupting both straight edges and flat surfaces that could otherwise be used for grinding or sliding, the stud helps protect the surface from damage caused by skateboards, rollerblades and BMX bikes.
Unlike anti-skate studs with an internal radius, the Hemisphere has a flat base, making it particularly suitable as a retrofit deterrent on flat walls and ledges. For help comparing it with other designs, see How do I choose the right anti-skate stud?.
Material Information
The Hemisphere Anti-Skate Stud is manufactured from high-quality 316L stainless steel for long-term external use. The material provides excellent corrosion resistance and is particularly well suited to demanding outdoor environments where the stud may be exposed to rain, snow, moisture and other weather conditions.
It features a single M8 threaded fixing stud measuring 30mm in length, providing a secure fixing into a suitable substrate.
Design
The Hemisphere has a compact dome-shaped design which sits flat against the surface on which it is installed.
Its radius-less base makes it particularly useful for flat walls, benches, steps and ledges where there is no requirement for the stud to follow or overhang a radiused coping edge.
The compact profile also makes the Hemisphere suitable where a relatively discreet or localised deterrent is preferred. Its simple shape allows it to sit neatly within a wide variety of architectural surroundings and it can also be used decoratively on wall faces and other architectural features.
For more information on establishing the available surface width, substrate depth and fixing position before installation, see

Application
The Hemisphere Anti-Skate Stud can be installed on a range of
surfaces suitable for anti-skate studs, including:
- Walls
- Benches
- Steps
- Planters
- Street furniture
The suitability of the installation will depend on the material, condition and available fixing depth of the substrate.
Installation
The Hemisphere Anti-Skate Stud is typically installed by:
- Drilling a fixing hole into the designated surface.
- Clearing the hole of dust and debris.
- Applying epoxy resin into the fixing hole.
- Inserting the stud and allowing the resin to cure.
For detailed preparation and fixing guidance, see
How to use epoxy resin to install architectural studs.
Always follow the curing instructions supplied with the chosen resin before the installation is subjected to use or loading.
Installation equipment required: Drill, appropriate drill bit, push pump, epoxy resin and applicator gun.
