Installing demarcation studs
Pin-fixed demarcation studs use the same drill-and-resin installation method as tactile studs and strips. Set out the line, drill and clean the fixing holes, apply resin and seat each product.
Follow the steps below alongside the video.
Equipment required
- Setting-out drawing, tape measure and marker
- Drill, suitable drill bit and depth stop
- Hole-cleaning equipment
- Compatible resin, applicator gun and mixing nozzle
- Cleaning materials and appropriate PPE
Step-by-step installation
1. Set out the demarcation line
Mark each fixing position against the project drawing. Check spacing and alignment before drilling.
2. Prepare the surface
Check the surface is sound and identify concealed services before starting.
3. Drill the fixing holes
Use the hole diameter and depth specified for the product and fixing.
4. Clean each hole
Remove drilling dust and debris from the holes and surrounding surface.
5. Apply the resin
Prepare and dispense the resin according to its instructions.
6. Fit the studs
Press each fixing into place. Check seating and alignment, then remove excess resin before it hardens.
7. Allow the resin to cure
Keep traffic clear until the specified curing period has elapsed, usually 24 hours. Check every fixing is secure before reopening the area.
