How far apart should tactile studs be installed from each other?

To recreate the common 400mm sq blister tile pattern with studs (commonly found at traffic crossings):

Each blister tile has 6 rows of 6 domes which requires 36 studs to recreate

The domes are 25mm in diameter

The distance between each dome horizontally and vertically is 66.8mm from the central point of the dome to the central point of the next dome

For larger tactile studs, the distance is 41.8mm of space between the edge of each stud

To add another 400mm sq stud arrangement the distance between the studs in each arrangement is again 66.8mm from the central point of each stud or 41.8mm edge to edge.

Although in the example given, we’re looking to replicate a blister tile, these measurements can be used as a standard for any pattern of tactile studs.

To recreate the larger 450mm sq blister tiles (commonly found on train platforms):

Each blister tile has 7 rows of 7 domes requiring 42 studs to recreate

The domes are 25mm in diameter

The distance between each dome horizontally and vertically is 64mm from the central point of the dome to the central point of the next dome

For larger tactile studs, the distance edge to edge of each stud is 39mm

To add another 450mm sq stud arrangement the distance between the studs in each arrangement is again 64mm from the central point of each stud or 39mm edge to edge.
